The same tables apply in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard: pay depends on pay grade and years of service, not on branch. Amounts are monthly and before taxes and deductions.

How 2026 pay compares with 2025

Comparing the two years cell by cell, basic pay rose 3.8% on January 1, 2026 in every cell of the tables except 38 officer cells. Those are held down by federal pay caps: $18,999.90 a month for O-7 to O-10 and $15,408.30 a month for O-6 and below.

2025 figures are the DFAS tables in force at the end of 2025: enlisted rates effective April 1, 2025, and warrant officer and officer rates effective January 1, 2025.

BAS rates 2026

Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) is a monthly food allowance paid on top of basic pay. It has one rate for enlisted members and one for officers.

Monthly BAS rates

January 1, 2026$328.48$476.95$953.90

Frequently asked questions

When does military pay go up?
The basic pay tables are normally updated in January. The 2026 rates took effect on January 1, 2026. This page is updated when DFAS posts new tables.
Is basic pay the same in every branch?
Yes. An E-5 with 6 years of service is paid the same basic pay in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force or Coast Guard.
What is not included in basic pay?
Basic pay does not include housing (BAH), food (BAS), special and incentive pays, bonuses, or taxes and other deductions. The military pay calculator adds BAH and BAS for your duty station.
When are military paydays?
Active duty members are paid twice a month: on the 15th, and on the 1st of the following month for the second half of the month. When either date falls on a weekend or holiday, pay arrives on the business day before. DFAS lists the exact dates on its 2026 Active Duty Paydays page.
What do O-1E, O-2E and O-3E mean?
They are pay rates for O-1 to O-3 officers who served more than 4 years as enlisted members or warrant officers before commissioning. Those rates are higher than the standard O-1 to O-3 rates.
Is this an official DFAS website?
No. PayGrade Chart is independent. The numbers are copied from DFAS and checked cell by cell; your LES is the final word on what you are paid.
